Hundreds to join local 2016 Walk to End Alzheimer's

The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's will take place Saturday, Sept. 24, at Pottawatomie Park, 8 North Ave. in St. Charles.

Hundreds of people from the Fox Valley area are expected at this year's event to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer's disease.

Participants will complete a two mile walk and will learn about Alzheimer's disease, advocacy opportunities, clinical studies enrollment and support programs and services from the Alzheimer's Association. Walk participants will also join in a meaningful tribute ceremony to honor those affected by Alzheimer's disease.

Start or join a team today at alz.org/walk or (815) 744-0804.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., with a ceremony at 9:30 a.m. The 2.5-mile walk will step off at 10 a.m. from Pottawatomie Park, heading south to Mount St. Mary's Park, along the Fox River, off Route 31. It will then head back north to the east-side park.

Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's is the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research. Since 1989, the association mobilized millions of Americans in the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk; now the Alzheimer's Association is continuing to lead the way with Walk to End Alzheimer's, to end the nation's sixth-leading cause of death.
