Join Arcada Theatre's 90th anniversary celebration

The Arcada Theatre, 105 E. Main St. in St. Charles, invites the community to its 90th anniversary celebration on Monday, Sept. 5.

A mini, procession-style parade will kick off at 6:30 p.m. at First Street and Main Street, and continues over the Fox River bridge and turns right at Second Avenue, then loops around the Arcada building, terminating on Riverside Avenue, which will be closed for the event.

There will be a vaudeville show at 7 p.m., similar to the ones that were actually performed at The Arcada during its silent film heyday.

Vocalists, jugglers, tap dancers, Prohibition Era-bands and other surprises will make up the 30- to 40-minute show. The 1926 Our Gang comedy short, "The Fourth Alarm" that was shown on opening night, will be screened.

St. Charles Mayor Ray Rogina will read a St. Charles City Council proclamation, and Ron Onesti will give a short presentation on the theater's colorful history.

The public is invited to this all-ages, complimentary event.

Free Blue Goose cake and Colonial ice cream will be served.

Tickets are required and costumes are encouraged, but not mandatory. Free tickets may be obtained by calling (630) 962-7000 or online at www.oshows.com.
