Learn about EarthShare Opportunity at Green Drinks

On the first Wednesday of each month, environmentally-minded people gather upstairs at Duke's Alehouse & Kitchen to network and talk about "greening" the future.

Everyone is welcome to attend the McHenry County Green Drinks from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 110 N. Main St. in Crystal Lake.

Thomas Jacks will speak on EarthShare Opportunity. It is a national nonprofit organization with more than 25 years of experience in engaging people and business in supporting critical environmental and conservation causes. Originally founded by its member charities to represent them in workplace giving campaigns, EarthShare now offers a wide range of tools to promote employee engagement and philanthropy.

EarthShare represents more than 600 carefully screened community, state-based, national and international nonprofits.

Tom Jacks is the managing director of EarthShare Illinois. Prior to EarthShare, he worked with hospitals across the Chicago area on their sustainability initiatives. He also provided policy research and analysis for the Chicago Department of Environment. He will be speaking about how EarthShare can help companies green their workplaces and how eco-labeling can help people become greener consumers.
