Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago honors Rotary District 6450 for $250,000 donation

Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago is honoring Rotary District 6450 for their $250,000 donation to the Therapeutic School and Center for Autism Research. The fundraising began when Art Davis, the late District Governor of Rotary District 6450, made a commitment and united local Rotary clubs to support the project.

Rotarian Edgar Allen founded Easter Seals in 1919 to help maximize independence and create opportunities for people with disabilities. Edgar Allen first encountered children with disabilities on a trip to a hospital and then reached out to Rotary Founder Paul Harris to solicit support.

"Easter Seals was born from Rotary and for nearly 100 years they have been one of our greatest allies," said Tim Muri, Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago president and CEO. "That support has continued to this day and we could not be happier to honor Rotary District 6450 and Art and Sandy Davis for their incredible support of our one-of-a-kind school for individuals with Autism and other disabilities."

The naming ceremony will celebrate the efforts of Rotary District 6450 and Art and Sandy Davis on Oct. 28 at the Therapeutic School and Center for Autism Research, 1939 W. 13th St., Chicago.

"This year's annual theme, brought to us by our current International President, K.R. Ravindran, is 'Be A Gift To The World'," said Osei David Andrews-Hutchinson, District Governor of Rotary 6450. "This auspicious occasion, which highlights the long-standing relationship between Rotary and Easter Seals, exemplifies, in real, tangible terms the actualization of President Ravi's Theme, and serves as an example to all of what is meant in the phrase 'Giving Back'."
