Learn about the Fox River Corridor Plan at meeting
Brian Daly, associate planner with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, will discuss the Fox River Corridor Plan at the next McHenry County Green Drinks from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 1.
On the first Wednesday of each month, environmentally-minded people gather upstairs at Duke's Alehouse & Kitchen, 110 N. Main St. in Crystal Lake, to network and talk about "greening" the future. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The Fox River Corridor Plan is a collaborative planning effort between the villages of Algonquin and Carpentersville through the agency's Local Technical Assistance Program. With input from residents, business owners, McHenry County Conservation District, Forest Preserve District of Kane County, and other stakeholders, the villages are creating a plan to increase access to the river, improve water quality, and enhance the downtown area of each community.
On Aug. 5, Julie Zamudio of AquaVerde Aquaponics in McHenry will talk about aquaponics, a combination of aquaculture, the raising of fish and hydroponics growing plants soilless.
