Garden club explores Briggs Nature Preserve

Several Algonquin Garden Club members recently participated in a guided nature walk of Dixie Fromm Briggs Nature Preserve, given by Al Wilson, steward of this land in Dundee Township.

The three-hour tour of this pristine 150-acre preserve was impressive.

Many were awed by the splendor of this area located in "our backyard."

The group learned the importance of conservancy in the overall preservation for generations to come. The group learned they are fortunate to have groups and individuals like Al Wilson and his team who are maintaining, exploring and cataloging the wildflowers and vegetation as they are found, and restoring the land. Much is accomplished with few volunteers.

For more information about this endeavor, call the Dundee Township office at (847) 658-4641 or visit dundeetownship.org.
