Hampshire resident admitted to Rural Pharmacy Education Program

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Lauren Cunico of Hampshire, Ill., a student at the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy at Rockford, was admitted to the Rural Pharmacy Education Program (RPHARM).

Upon graduation in 2017, Cunico will receive a concentration in rural pharmacy services and the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree. The concentration provides students with insights into issues affecting rural communities during the first three years of pharmacy school. During the fourth and final year of pharmacy school, Cunico will rotate through six advanced pharmacy practice experiences; three of these experiences are completed in the same rural community.

In 2010, the College of Pharmacy added an additional campus in Rockford, Ill. where students can benefit from small class sizes and personalized attention. The College of Pharmacy is viewed as a single institution with one accreditation but two campuses: Chicago and Rockford. Students in Rockford complete the identical curriculum as students on the Chicago campus. The core classes are taught via distance education using state-of-the-art technology.
