Consumers Cooperative Association names scholarship winners

Consumers Credit Union recently held its 85th annual meeting March 18 in conjunction with Consumers Cooperative Association, CCU's sponsor.

A highlight of the association's meeting was the awarding of six $1,500 scholarships. The recipients, all Lake County high school seniors, are able to use the scholarship at the college or university of their choice.

"Consumers Cooperative Association is proud to offer our scholarship program to help local students pursue a college or university degree," said Julian Penny, president of Consumers Cooperative Association. "We believe it's important to support our young people by providing them with this financial opportunity. We hope these scholarships help our winners achieve their dreams in their journey from high school to becoming our leaders of tomorrow. We're are excited for all six winners and look forward to seeing great things from them in the future."

The 2015 Scholarship winners include Michail B. Danos, Warren Township High School; Michelle G. Flores, Waukegan High School; Mackenzie D. Splitt, Warren Township High School; Katherine F. Finerty, Mundelein High School; Daniel R. Ludowise, Waukegan High School; and Katerina L. Dague, Grant Community High School.

"The credit union is proud that Consumers Cooperative Association provides scholarship opportunities for the families of our members," CCU President/CEO Sean M. Rathjen said.

"Our future depends on the development of our next generation of leaders, and we're pleased to be affiliated with an organization that supports that development. The association scholarship program provides our youth with a wonderful opportunity to realize their goals, which otherwise may have been out of reach."
