NBC's Nancy Loo to host Assisi Animal Foundation fashion show

Award-winning WGN-TV reporter Nancy Loo will host the Assisi Animal Foundation fashion show on Saturday, April 18, at the Crystal Lake Country Club.

Loo is known and awarded for her remarkable nonstop coverage the day of the World Trade Center tragedy on the only New York station which was not disabled by the bombing. She also a pioneer in using social media to promote news coverage as well as a passionate advocate for Assisi Animal Foundation.

Fresh spring fashions will be presented by Dress Barn of Algonquin Commons while guests enjoy a gourmet luncheon. Raffles and prizes will be offered, included in the auction items for one lucky pet household is a dog obedience training for six weeks from Aldens Kennels in Ringwood.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. with the viewing of raffle and auction items along with an opportunity to meet and greet friends and supporters of Assisi Animal Foundation.

Items include dining and entertainment, home décor, personal luxuries and special pet prizes. Fashion models include state Sen. Pamela Althoff and other area women of distinction.

Assisi Animal Foundation built McHenry County' first no-kill shelter in 1988. It also provides service animals to delight and comfort seniors and children with the Pets for Patient Progress. This program brings select shelter animals to visit residents in nursing and convalescent centers. It is a four-time recipient of the "Excellence of Service to Animals and Public Education" Award from the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association. Other awards include recognition from the American Veterinary Medical Association and the International Fund for Animal Welfare.
