Centegra to host support groups for parents of children with ADD

Centegra Health System will offer a physician-led support group for parents of children with attention deficit disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The group will provide opportunities for parents to share, collaborate and communicate about the challenges of raising children with ADD or ADHD.

It will be led by pediatrician Dr. Christine Poulos and clinical psychologist Dr. Joy Prepejchal, both with Centegra Physician Care.

"It can be difficult for parents to raise a child with ADD or ADHD," Prepejchal said. "This support group will bring together parents who are experiencing the same challenges."

They will address medications, diet, classroom strategies and daily routines for kids with ADD or ADHD.

"ADD and ADHD can impact a child's grades, social life and home life," Poulos said. "Centegra offers this as a place for parents to have meaningful discussions."

The next support group meeting will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center, 200 E. Congress Parkway in Crystal Lake. For more information or to register, call (815) 337-1983.
