Jazz Theatre of Illinois will make you MOVE

Jazz Theatre of Illinois is proud to present the second annual MOVE dance concert. MOVE will showcase professional and future professional dancers from 7 different dance companies, including Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago and the hip hop company Culture Shock Chicago. Company Director Emily Winkler, "We are thrilled to bring this level of dance to the north suburbs. Audience members will have the opportunity to see amazing and entertaining quality dance without having to travel to Chicago."

Providing more than just entertainment, MOVE serves as a means to give back. This year a portion of the proceeds from MOVE will be donated to Everybody Dance Now! Chicago. Everybody Dance Now! is a nonprofit organization that provides free, weekly dance programming to young people in Chicago Public schools who would otherwise not have access to such opportunities. .

Jazz Theatre of Illinois works to return dance to its roots as a creative, collaborative, and community based art form. The company emphasizes the positive and a spirit of community while giving quality training and performance experience to future professional dancers. Now in it's second season, it has 36 members and no specific studio affiliation is required to participate. Dancers can continue to train at their own home studio, which is unique in the dance environment. Company members represent Grayslake, Gurnee, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Libertyville, Long Grove, Mundelein, and Vernon Hills.
