CCU Hosts Free Workshop on Higher Education Opportunities

Waukegan, IL, October 14, 2014: The cost of education can be an immense challenge for some families. When considering the cost of a college education seems to increase with each passing day, it's good to know that there are more affordable and convenient options for those seeking to earn a graduate degree or professional certificate. Keeping that in mind, Consumers Credit union (CCU; $617 Million, Waukegan, IL) is hosting a no-cost educational workshop, "Higher Education at the University Center of Lake County."

The University Center of Lake County is comprised of 9 public and 10 private institutions providing bachelor completion, graduate, and advanced professional development programs at multiple sites to those who work or reside in or near the Lake County area. The University Center offers more than 120 degree and program options in business, computer science/information systems, education, engineering, health care and human services and more.

"Affordable education after high school is a critical need for our society," said Sean M. Rathjen, CCU President. "Not everyone has the time, or the means to attend a traditional 4-year university or college, which is why Lake County is fortunate to have opportunities closer to home. This workshop will help those in attendance make the best choices for their needs, discuss pricing and online courses, while also providing vital information on how to earn a bachelor or graduate degree in our local market."

The seminar is hosted by the University Center's Tonia Baxter and Myra Gaytan-Morales. Tonia is the Recruitment Specialist/Advisor for the University Center while Myra is an Assistant Dean for Academic Services & Programs at the University Center of Lake County. "Higher Education at the University Center" is open to the public as well as credit union Members at no cost. The seminar is presented by Consumers Credit Union, The University Center of Lake County and Consumers Cooperative Association, the credit union's sponsor.
