Temporary Halloween stores popping up along Randall

The ghouls and goblins are sneaking out already, and it's not even halfway into September.

But for those who like to get a jump on their Halloween costumes for the year, it's perfect timing.

Temporary Halloween stores are popping up along the Randall Road corridor, with employees stocking the stores with costumes and decorations in anticipation of opening later this month.

Spirit Halloween, which carries costumes for babies through adults, as well as decorations and animatronics, has several locations coming to the Chicago area. Some opened over Labor Day; however, those along the Randall Road corridor are scheduled to open later this month.

At the north end of Randall, you'll find one in Lake in the Hills at 261 N. Randall, on the east side of the road in the former Hollywood Video location.

At the south end, there is a Spirit Halloween opening soon in Batavia at 1980 W. Fabyan Parkway.

Halloween City also is opening a temporary business in Batavia for all your Halloween needs. You can find it at 341 N. Randall Road. The store is expected to be open this month.

Carrie Allen of Elgin, who was peering into the window of Spirit Halloween in Lake in the Hills this month, said she couldn't wait for it to open.

“I love Halloween,” she said. “I can't get enough.”

Many of the permanent retailers along the Randall Road corridor, such as Target, Kohl's and Gymboree, already have many Halloween costumes in stock, too.

And if you think it's too early for Halloween, just look in area stores a little closer and you will find they are already starting to put up Christmas decorations. The Hobby Lobby along Randall Road in Geneva has ornaments out in August.

New dental business:

A new dental office, Dental Care of South Elgin, recently opened along the Randall Road corridor.

Doctors Melissa Ledwidge and Irene Nosrati are offering a full-service, state-of-the-art family dental practice at 342 Randall Road, South Elgin. The office can be reached at (630) 883-8146.

The office does routine cleaning and simple fillings, as well are more in-depth restorative dental care and cosmetic services. The dentists also focus on interceptive orthodontics, advanced endodontics, TMJ disorders and orofacial pain, mini dental implants and complete smile makeovers.

Fall fun:

Fall brings with it many distinctive smells and flavors, especially caramel apple.

To help you indulge, the Rocky Mountain Chocolate factory along Randall Road in Geneva has its caramel apples ready for consumption.

You can get all different kinds at the business in Geneva Commons, but on Tuesdays they are offering plain ones for $2.

Of course, you still can get even more decadent apples at the store, including apples covered in caramel and topped with chocolate or different candies.
