Library Offers Tips for Parents of High School and Elementary Students

Parents of high school and elementary school students are invited to attend free upcoming programs at the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg. Topics will include the college search, financing an undergraduate education, and helping grade school children make the most of their new school year.

"How to Begin Your College Search" will be held from 7-8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16 in the Adult Classroom on the library's second floor. Parents and students are invited to join Thomas Jaworski of Quest College Consulting for advice on breaking down the college search process. Smart phones and tablets are welcome.

"Smart Start," designed for parents of grade-school students, is scheduled from 7-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 23 in the library's Rasmussen South Room. Presenter Kari Mika of Alexian Brothers Parish Services conducts this interactive session with hands-on strategies for implementing a successful back-to-school plan. Parents will discover ways to promote responsibility, independence and positive self-esteem.

"Webinar: Financing a College Education" is slated from 3:30-4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 24, in the Adult Classroom. Morningstar Webinar presenter Adam Zoll will provide tips and strategies for reducing and managing tuition payments. Because this is a webinar, the presenter will not be able to receive questions on site.

Registration is required for all three programs. To register, call (847) 923-3347 or visit the Adult Information Desk on the library's second floor.
