MCC offers a variety of language classes
Learn a new language for job enhancement or just for fun with Spanish, German, Italian or sign language classes offered by McHenry County College's Continuing Education Department.

German Culture: Learn about Germany's unique culture to enhance your travel experience to Deutschland or just for your own enjoyment. Participants will learn about the customs, food, drink and characteristics of each region, along with the most useful German words and phrases while visiting that country. Class takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 2-16, in Room A103. Cost is $35. Use course ID NFL S23 009 when registering.
German I: This course is ideal for those wanting to travel to German-speaking countries and/or learn basic German grammar, practice word pronunciation and phrase study. The required book is "The Everything Learning German Book" second edition, with CD included, ISBN 9781598699890. Textbooks must be purchased on your own prior to start of class and is available in the MCC Bookstore. Class takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 30-Dec. 9, in Room A103. Cost is $120. Use course ID NFL S21 010 to register. No class on Oct. 14.
Italian I: Learn about Italian culture and the basics of expressing yourself in the "Bella Lingua." The course will focus on basic but useful skills to be understood in Italy. It's perfect for prospective tourists or for those who want to get back in touch with their Italian roots in a fun and engaging way. The required textbook is "Espresso 1 Student Book" by L. Ziglio and G. Rizzo, Alma Edizioni (available at www.deltapublishing.com) ISBN 9788861820531. Textbook must be purchased on your own prior to the start of class and is not available in the MCC Bookstore. Class takes place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Fridays, Oct. 10-Dec. 19, in Room A117. and cost is $119. Use course ID NFL S12 013 to register.
Sign Language I: Learn fingerspelling and basic survival signs that can be used in a variety of settings. The book for class will be discussed at the first class session. This class is taught by a deaf instructor. This class is being offered from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 3-Nov. 19, in Room A103. Cost of this class is $125. Use course I: NFL S01 009 to register.
