Pioneer Center group homes receive $5,000 from TEQ Thermoform

TEQ Thermoform, a subsidiary of ESCO Technologies and a leading provider in the design, manufacture and supply of innovative health care, electronic and consumer packaging and products, recently gave back to the community with a donation of $5,000 to Pioneer Center for Human Services in Woodstock. The donation is in support of Pioneer Center's intellectual and developmental disability group homes.

Pioneer Center's group homes provide a family living environment, where adults share a home in the community with up to seven peers, under the supervision of caring staff. The residents share in all aspects of running a group home, such as cooking, cleaning and grocery shopping. In total, Pioneer Center has eight intellectual and developmental disability group homes in neighborhoods throughout McHenry County.

A portion of the donation was also given for animal assisted therapy to help teach adolescents ages of 13-18 how to handle small herd animals and work with them through team building exercises. This interaction helps clients learn how to complete tasks. Overall, clients gain knowledge and skills regarding working with animals as well as giving back through the community service.

As a long-standing supporter of Pioneer Center and its mission, TEQ Thermoform is also a 2012 recipient of the Trailblazer Award. The Trailblazer Award is presented to donors that have cumulatively contributed $10,000 or more to Pioneer Center. The award is a symbol of Pioneer Center, which prides itself on being a trailblazer in seeking out cutting-edge breakthroughs in human services for its clients.
