Consumers Credit Union Introduces New Mascot
Waukegan, IL, July 22, 2014: Consumers Credit Union recently introduced Earnest the Pig, the 85-year old credit union's new mascot. Earnest made his debut on the credit union's website and in a variety of marketing materials in March. In recent week's, Earnest has joined the credit union's community outreach team at festivals and other special events throughout Lake County. Based on the reaction from those in attendance, Earnest is a big hit!
Why Earnest the Pig? "We were looking for a new, fun way to deliver a positive message about Consumers Credit Union," said Maria Contreras, Marketing Manager for the Member-owned credit union. "We wanted to create an image that would resonate with people of all ages - an icon that would work with both traditional and new-age, social media marketing. The public reaction has been fantastic and as a result, we have many more activities lined up for him."
Earnest's first community festival was Round Lake Beach Fest in mid-June, followed by appearances at Wauconda Fest and Mundelein Days. While on location, Earnest provides stickers and photo opportunities for kids. He also refunds ATM fees for adults - a big hit for those who run a little short of cash at these events. Upcoming appearances include the Lake County Fair, the Most Blessed Trinity Kermes and Gurnee Days, to name a few. He'll also be featured during Earnest give-a-ways at in-branch celebrations and will continue to expand his presence on the Internet and in radio and TV ads.
According to Contreras, "Earnest was born to spread good news, such as the opportunity to earn MORE with our enhanced Rewards Checking product. Earnest is nice, too … he loves to talk about the value of credit unions and how YOU can get more value out of your credit union Membership. We have many more exciting promotions in the planning stages - so watch for more Earnest the Pig news in the weeks and months to come. We hope you'll fall in love with him, just like we did."
