Road closures, other restrictions during Algonquin Founders' Days

As a result of the Founders' Days activities in July, there will be numerous detours and delays while traveling through Algonquin July 24-27. At certain times, the major streets of Algonquin will either be closed or impassable.

On Saturday, July 26, routes 31 and 62 will be closed and traffic will be diverted beginning at 10 a.m.

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. sharp and will start from Eastgate Drive and Route 62. It will travel west on Route 62 over the Fox River and then travel south on Route 31. The parade will end at Madison Street; however, Route 31 will be closed at Edgewood Drive and traffic will be diverted onto the already-established Edgewood Drive detour route. No traffic will be allowed onto northbound Route 31 side streets of LaFox River, Division or Jayne other than residents who live in that subdivision.

On Sunday, July 27, Harrison Street will be closed from Route 62 to Edward Street from 5 to 11 p.m. This street closure allows for the preparation of the fireworks display and assures the safe passage of pedestrians before, during and after the display.

No parking of vehicles will be allowed within this section of North Harrison the day of the fireworks.

No one (pedestrians included) will be permitted to remain on the bridge on Route 62 over the Fox River from 7 to 11 p.m. Sunday, July 27.

The bridge will be kept open for the flow of pedestrian traffic to Riverfront Park before the fireworks. There will be no pedestrian crossing of Route 62 permitted at River Road before, during or after the fireworks. All pedestrian traffic must cross Route 62 at either Harrison Street or Eastgate Drive.

At the conclusion of the fireworks, all people wishing to cross the Fox River to go eastbound on Route 62 will be required to cross Route 62 at Harrison Street to the south side of Route 62 and then proceed eastbound.

Be aware that all traffic through Algonquin will be delayed because of the Founders' Days festivities.

When possible, drivers should seek alternate routes during this festival. Please park only in designated areas and do not block any drives or access roads.
