U.S. Rep. Bill Foster to appear at Chris Walk Night Out Against Substance Abuse

Congressman Bill Foster will speak briefly on the heroin epidemic at Chris Walk Night Out Against Substance Abuse on Saturday, July 26, around 4:15 p.m. at Gunnar Anderson Forest Preserve, located near the Kane County Government Center in Geneva.

Congressman Foster has been researching the heroin epidemic and holding roundtables in an effort to find more resources to combat heroin use.

Kane County Sheriff Pat Perez will also be on hand to talk about efforts being made in Kane County.

Chris Walk Against Substance Abuse is a 501(c)(3) formed after the death of Chris Foley to a heroin overdose in St. Charles in July 2007.

The Night Out Against Substance Abuse highlights resources for help while fundraising for substance abuse prevention programs.

Features of the evening are a 5K run/walk, zumba lesson, DJ, hot dogs from Nate'z Dogz Hot Dogs, Good Humor Man, vendor fair and more.

Admission is free; however a fee is charged for the 5K and zumba. The event starts at 4 p.m. and will end at 8 p.m. Registration is open until the time of the event at www.chriswalk.net.
