Cary contest open to kids and their dogs

Is your dog the smartest? Happiest? Most loved? Best fed? Does he or she have the longest ears, shortest legs or loudest bark?

Show off your best friend and let your doggie be the star of the show as the Cary Park District hosts a Kid's Dog Show. Pure mutts and pure pedigrees alike are welcome to compete in a variety of honors.

The show will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 12, behind the preschool building at Lions Park, 1200 Silver Lake Road. Dogs must be on a leash at all times and be able to interact with other dogs and humans.

The contest is open to children ages 5 to 13 and their dog of any age and any size. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Space is still available. Preregistration is required. Registration is $5 for residents and $8 for nonresidents per child/dog team and is accepted at the Cary Park District Community Center, 255 Briargate Road, Cary. For more details, visit www.carypark.com or call (847) 639-6100.
