Miss Cary, Miss Fox River Grove queens crowned

Ten young women competed May 10 in the 2014 Miss Cary and Miss Fox River Grove Business Scholarship Pageant at Cary-Grove High School. Contestants crowned for the title won $1,000 scholarships from the Cary Grove Area Chamber of Commerce.

Congratulations to Miss Cary 2014 Kelly Cunningham and Miss Fox River Grove Magalie Baker. Congratulations also to Miss Cary first runner-up Rachel Ehlers, Miss Cary second runner-up Brianna Galvin, Miss Fox River Grove first runner-up, Melanie Perkins, and Miss Fox River Grove second runner-up Kendall Teufel. All the contestants did a fantastic job and it was a wonderful evening.

The Pageant Committee was comprised of Lisa Raupp of Mary Kay Cosmetics, Pageant Director; Ellen McAlpine of envoy Mortgage Corp.; Kelly Miller of Coldwell Banker Honig-Bell; Rebekah Chisholm of Melaleuca the Wellness Company; and Deanna Behm-Liss of Three Oaks Assisted Living.

The process leading up to the Miss Cary/FRG Pageant is designed to provide the contestants with valuable communication and speaking skills, and knowledge about local business. They are formally introduced to the business community and area leaders, get involved in community service, and are trained in speaking and presentation skills. The evening of the pageant the contestants participate in an evening gown competition, an interview session and give a live presentation on their business sponsor. Miss Cary and Miss Fox River Grove as well as runners up receive scholarship money.

The Miss Fox River Grove Pageant was started in 1955 and the Miss Cary Pageant began in 1963.
