Crystal Lake Knights of Columbus to host free throw contest

The St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Knights of Columbus Council 10678 and Fr. McCormick Knights of Columbus Council 3880, both of Crystal Lake, are hosting a free throw contest on Saturday, Jan. 26.

All boys and girls ages 9 to 14 (as of Jan. 1, 2014,) are invited to participate in this event, which will be held at the St. Thomas the Apostle School gym, 265 N. King St. in Crystal Lake. The entrance to the gym is off Lake Street, across from the Little Christopher Resale Store, 469 Lake St.

Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. and the competition will begin at 9 a.m.

All contestants will be recognized for their participation in the event. Age group winners will receive a championship plaque and advance to the District Free Throw Championship Saturday, Feb. 22 at Ss. Peter and Paul School in Cary. Participants are required to furnish proof of age and written parental consent.

The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship is sponsored annually, with winners progressing through local, district, and state competitions. International champions are announced by the K of C international headquarters based on scores from the state-level competitions.
