Hawks Face Elite Field at Midlands Championship

The Harper College wrestling team competed against an elite field at the 51st Ken Kraft Midlands Championship at Northwestern University. The Hawks scored two points in the two-day meet held on Dec. 29 and 30.

The Hawks placed 42nd out of 47 teams. Iowa won the meet with 187.5 points, followed by Edinboro (102.5 points), Michigan (84 points), Illinois (83 points) and Northern Iowa (70.5 points) rounding out the top five.

Blake Santi (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) scored the points for Harper at 149 pounds as he bounced back from an 8-1 opening match lose to Wisconsin's Andrew Crone to beat Eastern Michigan's Mike LeHolm with a 16-2 major decision to earn bonus points. Santi dropped his last match to finish with a 1-2 record.

The Hawks return to the mat Jan. 11-12 for the National Duals in Des Moines, Iowa.
