Waukegan, IL, December 3, 2013: The expense of receiving a higher education goes up each and every year. That's why Consumers Cooperative Association (CCA), the sponsor for Consumers Credit Union ($604 Million; Waukegan, IL), created its scholarship program. Each year, CCA offers local students the opportunity to earn one of six (6) $1,500.00 scholarships. The deadline to apply in hopes of receiving one of this year's scholarships is Tuesday, December 31, 2013.

The $1500.00 scholarships are available for students scheduled to graduate high school in the spring of 2014. Applicants are evaluated on academic performance, financial need and leadership abilities, in addition to their involvement and activity within the local community. "Scholarships are one of the most important opportunities we can provide," said Elizabeth Oldham, Consumers Cooperative Association President. "After all, today's students are tomorrow's leaders, and it's our responsibility to actively support higher education for our youth."
