Affordable Care Act to be explained at Schaumburg lLibrary

The “Be Covered Illinois” program will be outlined and explained at several dates and times at the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg. A representative of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights will provide a basic understanding of the Affordable Care Act.

Topics will include how the health care reform law will affect the way in which people obtain health insurance beginning in 2014. Registration is required for these free program. Register by calling (847) 923-3347.

The first program on Monday, Oct. 7, is full, however registration is open for the following programs:

Ÿ 10:30 a.m.-noon, Tuesday, Nov. 26, in the Rasmussen North Room on the library’s second floor.

Ÿ 7-8:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 9, at the Hanover Park Branch, 1266 Irving Park Road. This program will be presented in Spanish.

Ÿ 7-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 17, in the Rasmussen South Room on the library’s second floor.

Open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act Insurance Marketplace runs from Oct. 1 to March 31.

In addition to addressing this topic with the aforementioned program, the library is offering printed information, applications for health coverage, and a marketplace application checklist (information applicants need when applying).

Additionally, the library has available a list of local agencies that offer one-on-one assistance with matters concerning the Affordable Care Act. All of this information is free and located near the Reference Desk on the library’s second floor.
