• Brian G. Doscher, 26, of the 9900 block of Stacy Lane, Union, was charged Monday with attempted unlawful acquisition of a controlled substance, according to a police report. Doscher attempted to acquire the prescription drug Norco at the pharmacy on the first floor of Advocate Sherman Hospital, 1435 N. Randall Road. Police said he gave a false name to the doctor. Elgin police were called after Doscher couldn't provide identification. His bail was set at $3,000, and he has a Thursday court date.
• Dylan S. Earnest, 20, of the 400 block of Wilcox Street, Elgin, and Ryan L. Doherty, 19, of the 0S900 block of West Mallory Drive, Geneva, were both charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, at 2:26 a.m. July 2 on the 1100 block of Geneva Drive, according to a police report.
• Three mailboxes on the 38W600 block of West Highland Avenue near Elgin were damaged between 4 p.m. July 2 and 4 p.m. July 3, according to a sheriff's report.
• A Garmin GPS and Passport radar detector, a total value of $600, were stolen between 6 p.m. June 30 and 1 p.m. July 1 from a vehicle on the 15N800 block of Pleasant Fields Lane near Hampshire, according to a sheriff's report.
