Waubonsie's Hohman throws no-hitter

Shannon Hohman twirled a no-hitter, striking out 13, and also homered for No. 16 Waubonsie Valley in a 16-0 win at Larkin on Tuesday. Amanda Minahan tripled and doubled for the Warriors (10-2, 5-1 Upstate Eight).

St. Charles East 2, Neuqua Valley 1:

Haley Beno took a shutout into the seventh inning, striking out seven, for the No. 13 Saints (10-3, 5-3 Upstate Eight). Colleen Hill hit a solo homer in the seventh and Jamie O'Brien struck out six for Neuqua (6-5, 4-2).

Naperville North 6, Wheaton North 1:

Rachel Aiardo doubled twice and scored a run, Kelsey Warren was 3-for-3 with 2 runs scored and Naperville North pounded out 12 hits in Tuesday's DuPage Valley Conference opener. Michelle Cavoto was 2-for-3 with a run scored for the host Huskies (5-2, 1-0).

Montini 19, Wheaton Academy 3:

Freshmen Alyssa Sclafani and Emily Lezcano both homered, for Sclafani her fifth of the year, and drove in 4 runs for the Broncos (11-3, 5-0 Suburban Christian Conference Blue), who broke a 3-3 tie with a 9-run third inning. Shaylee Lewis was 4-for-4 with 4 RBI, Cristina Barrett 3-for-4 with 4 RBI and Amy Bukovsky 2-for-3 with 2 RBI.

Glenbard South 6, Timothy Christian 0:

Stephanie Chitkowski (3-0) fired a one-hitter, striking out 13, for the No. 8 Raiders (9-1, 3-0 Metro Suburban Conference). Taylor Carli homered and Jane Trzaska doubled, tripled and drove in 2 runs.

Metea Valley 15, Geneva 0:

Kara Leckinger was 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI for Metea (3-5, 3-2 Upstate Eight), who broke up a scoreless game with 10 runs in the fourth inning. Alyssa Coletto and Mary Przekwas each went 2-for-4 and Stephanie Bova (2-3) tossed a three-hitter.

Downers Grove South 11, Hinsdale South 1:

Caitlyn Daly slugged a two-run homer and Emma Thibault doubled, tripled and drove in 3 runs for the Mustangs (5-5, 1-0 West Suburban Gold). Caroline Hedgcock (3-4) struck out eight and also went 2-for-5 with 2 RBI.
