Fortunato powers Palatine victory

Anthony Fortunato homered, doubled and drove in 2 runs as Palatine produced 10 hits in a 6-1 victory over visiting Highland Park in nonconference play Tuesday.

Winning pitcher Nolan Gavin allowed 3 hits and 1 unearned run in 6 innings, and Jason Lemonidis pitched a hitless seventh inning for the Pirates.

Buffalo Grove 5, Maine West 4: The host Bison prevailed in nonconference play as Josh Guertler and Billy Chandler doubled. Adam Kowalski earned the victory, and Ryan Lowe suffered the loss.

Wheaton North 1, Elk Grove 0: The visiting Falcons scored the game's only run in the seventh inning to claim a nonconference victory as David Camacho suffered the defeat.
