Start your new year off right with ESO concert

The Elgin Symphony Orchestra will open the new year with a concert at the new Batavia Fine Arts Centre.

The weekend concert series, “The Four Seasons,” on Jan. 10-13 will be held at three locations. The series will begin with a special Thursday concert at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Batavia Fine Arts Centre, 1201 Main St. Tickets are $28-$48.

It will be followed on Friday, Jan. 11 by the ESO's performance at 7:30 p.m. at the Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Court in Schaumburg. Tickets are $28 to $48.

The series will return to Elgin's Hemmens Cultural Center with concerts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13. Tickets are $18 to $68.

Even in the depths of winter, experience the renewing flush of spring, seductive warmth of a summer evening, and the shifting winds of fall in Vivaldi's “Four Seasons” under the skilled direction of renowned conductor and pianist Ignat Solzhenitsyn. The guest violinist will be Jennifer Frautschi.

The concerts also will include performances of Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings in C major and Stravinsky's Concerto in E-flat (Dumbarton Oaks).
