• Cathy Nguyen, 27, of the 700 block of Fox Avenue in Glendale Heights, was cited for her role in a two-vehicle accident Friday morning that clogged up traffic for 40 minutes on Route 20, according to police. Nguyen was driving a 2009 Toyota RAV 4 westbound on Route 20 at Lambert Road. As the light turned red, Nguyen veered into the eastbound lanes to avoid hitting the car in front of her and instead hit a 2006 Ford Explorer head on, police said. Nguyen and the 54-year-old man from Elgin who was driving the Ford were taken to Sherman Hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries. Nguyen was later cited with a $75 ticket for improper lane usage, police said.
• William Henders, 47, of the 1500 block of Canterfield Parkway, was charged Tuesday with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. According to a police report, Henders tested positive for drugs while on parole. Henders was released from jail after posting $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 12 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
• A 16-year-old boy from West Dundee was arrested Monday and charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. He was arrested at Jacobs High School, on the 2600 block of Bunker Hill Drive, referred to the Tri County Area Peer Jury and later released to his father, police said.
• Kristen L. Heitsch, 18, of the 5800 block of South Corona Drive in Palatine, was arrested Tuesday at Walmart on the 1400 block of South Randall Road and charged with retail theft, police said. She was released with a notice to appear in court Jan. 30 in Algonquin.
