Schaumburg library trip to see ‘War Horse

Imaginative drama, stirring music and magnificent artistry combine in the epic production of “War Horse,” the destination of a Schaumburg Township District Library trip from 5:15-11:45 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 20, at Chicago’s Cadillac Theatre. The motor coach will leave from and return to the library parking lot, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg.

Set in the English countryside and the fields of France and Germany at the outbreak of World War I, “War Horse” chronicles a man’s mission to find his horse and bring him home.

South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company brings breathing, galloping, full-scale horses to life on the stage — their flanks, hides and sinews built of steel, leather and aircraft cables. Experience the emotional journey that charges through the battlefields of history straight to hearts of audiences around the world. “War Horse” is based on the beloved novel by Michael Morpurgo.

Theatergoers are welcome to bring their own food to eat on the bus. The fee of $110 covers main floor seating and transportation. Registration is required. To register, call (847) 923-3347 and pay via credit card, or stop by the Ask Us desk on the library’s second floor.
