Eat guilt-free after Turkey Trot

Submitted by Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Turkey Trot

The ninth annual Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Turkey Trot will be held Thursday, Nov. 22. It is for charity and 100 percent of the donations go the local food pantry. Last year, there were 280 runners and they collected 1,500 pounds of food and $2,205. Registration opens Thanksgiving morning from 7:15-7:50 a.m. at Lifetime Fitness, 451 Rolls Road, Algonquin. The 5K run/run walk starts at 8 a.m. or register at alith-foodpantry.org. The suggested donation is $10 or equal value of nonperishable food items. This is a family event so children and strollers are welcome.

Eat guilt-free at the Thanksgiving feast by starting the day at a turkey trot.

The sweet potato casserole and pumpkin pie will taste much sweeter on Thanksgiving. Gather your running buddies, family, friends and neighbors, and support your local turkey trot.
