Three charged in $34,000 McHenry County pot bust

Three Lake County residents were arrested following an alleged drug deal near Lakemoor in McHenry County, authorities said Thursday.

Max Barraza, 22, of the 300 block of Litchfield Drive in Round Lake; Alexander De Los Santos, 39, of the 500 block of North Pine Street in Waukegan; and Michelle Luzar, 26, of the 25000 block of Marquette Drive in Ingleside, were all charged with unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful delivery of cannabis, and unlawful calculated criminal cannabis conspiracy during their arrest Tuesday at the corner of Chapel Hill Road and Route 120, said McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren in a news release.

Luzar also picked up a misdemeanor charge for possession of drug paraphernalia.

If found guilty of the felony charges filed against them, the three could spend up to 15 years behind bars.

Nygren said approximately nine pounds of cannabis with a street value of $34,000 was seized from one of the vehicles.

He added that deputies also seized a 2006 Infiniti that was used in the drug transaction.

According to the McHenry County Sheriffs Jail inmate search, Luzar and De Los Santos have been released after posting bond while Barraza remains in the McHenry County jail in lieu of $6,000 bond.
