Schaumburg library to host blood drive

The Schaumburg Township District Library is once again joining forces with LifeSource to help replenish dangerously low blood supplies. A blood drive is scheduled from 12:30-6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 8, in the Rasmussen North Room of the central library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg. Please consider donating, as LifeSource is in desperate need of blood for lifesaving transfusions.

Sign up by contacting the library’s Public Relations Coordinator Susan Miura at (847) 923-3120. Scheduling an appointment works best, but walk-ins are welcome as well.

To donate blood, you must meet the following criteria:

타 Weigh at least 110 pounds.

타 Be in good physical health

타 Be at least 17 years old (there is no upper age limit).

타 Have not given blood in the past eight weeks (56 days).

Blood transfusions are used for cancer, car accidents, hip replacements, liver transplants, anemia, ulcers and more. Those who have questions about blood donations can find many answers at www.lifesource.org.
