Schaumburg library hosts auditions for Battle of the Bands

Local rock bands have the opportunity to perform in Schaumburg's Town Square on Wednesday, July 11, by auditioning for Battle of the Bands, hosted by the Schaumburg Township District Library.

Whether your group plays acid, alternative, Christian metal, emo, grunge, pop punk, steam punk, electro punk or any other rock genre, you're welcome to audition. The deadline for submitting audition songs is 10 p.m., Saturday, June 30.

Up to four bands will be chosen to compete from 6-9 p.m. on the open air stage in front of the pond. This is a great opportunity for bands to expand their fan base and get their name out there. The annual Battle of the Bands is attended by many teens from the Schaumburg Township area. Winners will be featured in the library's Program Guide and their photo will be sent to the Daily Herald newspaper.

Who qualifies? Bands whose members are age 21 or younger on July 11, 2012, may participate in the competition. Band members must be available at 5 p.m., July 11, to set up.

To audition, submit one song on MP3 to teenservices@stdl.org, or post a link to the Purevolume or YouTube websites.

Are you ready to rock Town Square? If so, submit your audition before that deadline blows past you like “dust in the wind.”

For information, contact teenservices@stdl.org or call (847) 923-3193.
