The suburbs celebrate Arbor Day

In Illinois Arbor Day is always the last Friday in April, and kids were out all over the suburbs today, planting trees.

In Des Plaines, the ceremony was at the Early Learning Center, where Mayor Marty Moylan read a proclamation and then everybody got busy planting a tree.

In Hoffman Estates, the ceremony was held Friday morning at Arbor Day Park at the corner of Downing Drive and Sumac Trail.

And in Wheeling, third-graders at Walt Whitman School helped plant a tree on the school grounds.
