Can’t someone fix the library debate?

I am an over 30-year Elk Grove Village resident and I am very disappointed in the village’s new library policy regarding residents residing west of Rohlwing Road.

I frequent the library five-six days a week and reading the new policy effective May 1, 1 will be losing many privileges I have had for many years. I called the library to voice my opinion and was told from two individuals that I needed to call the Schaumburg Library as they were the people I had to address regarding this issue.

When I called the Schaumburg Library and again talked with two individuals there, they indicated that due to the economy and village funds, they were no longer able to fund west side residents.

I feel the residents are the ones who are hurt by this policy. Elk Grove is my library — I live in Elk Grove — why can’t I continue to use this library as I do now? I very seldom frequent the Schaumburg Library and I would like to continue using my library. My card will be canceled May 1, and I will lose 16 services per the Daily Herald newspaper article.

I have written the Elk Grove Library and the Schaumburg Library to voice my opinion on these issues. I hope there is some way for both of these libraries to settle this issue. Thanks for every effort anyone can make regarding this problem.
