Homestead exemption discussed:
The Wauconda Township Assessor’s office will host a workshop to explain the Illinois Homestead Exemption Program at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2 at the Wauconda Township community hall, 505 W. Bonner Road, Wauconda. The homestead exemption can provide tax relief for senior citizens. Those nearing the age of 65 and older, their families and senior care givers are invited. Representatives from the Lake County Chief County Assessment Office and treasurer’s office will discuss qualifications and procedures to apply. Information also will be available on reverse mortgages and circuit breaker grants. Reservations are encouraged as seating is limited. Call (847) 526-2881.
