The area's newest bars prepare for New Year's Eve

Many of the suburban clubs that opened in 2011 are welcoming 2012 in a big way. Here's a look at what some of the new clubs are doing to celebrate their first New Year's Eve Saturday.

601 Bar and Grill, 601 W. Army Trail Blvd, #F, Addison, (630) 458-9300, 601barandgrill.com: A free appetizer buffet runs from 8 to 10 p.m. The band One Sweet James headlines at 9 p.m. Regular drink specials are offered for $12-$14. Countdown at midnight. Open until 2 a.m. No cover charge.

Blue 60, 330 Townline Road, Mundelein, (847) 949-6060, bluesixty.com: Events begin at 9 p.m. Countdown at midnight includes music, champagne and party favors. No cover charge.

Bulldog Ale House, 1021 Fountain View Drive, Carol Stream, (630) 690-0333, bulldogalehouse.com: Opens at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, and closes at 2 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1., with $3 all drinks, all day. DJ at 10 p.m. $10 cover after 10 p.m. Food specials include build-a-burger for $6.99 and pizza for $5. Countdown at midnight includes champagne. No reservations required.

Drink Nightclub, 871 E. Algonquin Road, Schaumburg, (847) 397-3100, drinknightclub.com: Several packages offered. A $99 (per person) package includes a reserved seat, a four-hour premium open bar from 8 p.m. to midnight, a buffet with shrimp, New York strip steak, pasta station and desserts. A $75 per-person package includes everything but a reserved seat. General admission begins at 10 p.m. for $25. Music by a DJ. At midnight, a multimedia celebration with a countdown includes a balloon drop and party favors.

Exclusively Napa Wine Bar and Emporium, 35 N. Williams St., Crystal Lake, (815) 479-0770, exclusivelynapawine.com: Evening features a three-piece band and food specials, including beef brisket tacos and pasta with a vodka cream sauce. Countdown and toast at midnight. No cover charge. Reservations are recommended.

JJ's Prime Time Pub, 1555 Butterfield Road, Aurora, (630) 800-1161, jjsprimetimepub.com: Sing along with the band at 9 p.m. at the “Band-aroke” competition. Countdown with champagne and party poppers at midnight. No cover charge.

Rockwood Tap House, 3131 Finley Road, Downers Grove, (630) 964-3131, rockwoodtaphouse.com: Regular menu plus two special dinners, beginning at 4 p.m.: champagne chicken or prime rib ($15.95 per person). DJ and dancing from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. $25 per guest, with two drinks and an appetizer buffet (from 9 to 11 p.m.). Champagne toast at midnight. No reservations required.

Snuggery, 1540 N. Roselle Road, Schaumburg, (847) 519-7555, snuggerychicago.com: No cover charge. DJ begins at 9 p.m. Balloons, favors and countdown at midnight.

Tokio Pub, 1900 E. Higgins Road, Schaumburg, (847) 278-5181, tokiopub.com: All ages are welcome from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. After 10 p.m., guests need to be 21 or older. In addition to a regular a la carte menu, diners can choose from four customizable “rounds” for $40. DJ Bobby Styles headlines from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. No cover charge. Midnight toast. Free late-night buffet includes steak and pork tacos, tuna maki and more. Call for reservations.

Wickets Bar & Grill, 601 N. Martingale Road, Schaumburg, Suite 100, (847) 619-1400, wicketsbarandgrill.com: Complimentary champagne toast and countdown at midnight. No cover charge.
