Grayslake Central d. Woodstock: Beth Arnold slammed a career-high 6 kills, Klaudia Basierak added five and Anna Basten registered four, as the Rams won 25-20, 25-19 in Fox Valley Fox Division play.

Marina Treato and Gabi Casper served 4 and 3 aces, respectively, for Grayslake Central (5-4, 2-0). Treato added 9 digs.

“We played good enough to win,” Rams coach Jason Janczak said. “Beth Arnold had a great night at the net. But we need to clean up our mistakes and keep getting better.”

Johnsburg d. Grayslake North: The Skyhawks pulled out a Fox Valley Fox thriller, 21-25, 25-18, 25-23.

Knights coach Nikki Kirchway called it “an amazing match.”

Grayslake North (1-7, 0-1) received big hitting nights from Joanna Guhl (8 kills), Katie McGrath (7 kills) and Kelsey Klausner (5 kills). Lisa Lowry set 74 of 74 with 21 assists, Kayla Huck had 16 digs and Alaina Geissberger contributed a pair of blocks for the Knights, who counted 66 digs.

“Both sides had good blocking and great defense,” Kirchway said. “The girls really played their hearts out.”

Vernon Hills d. Larkin: Megan Meline and Jenn Claussen each slammed 5 kills for the Cougars in their 25-14, 25-18 nonconference win.

Vernon Hills (7-5) also got 4 blocks, 3 aces and 9 digs from Shannon Nugent. Rachel Lira had 3 kills and 2 blocks for the Cougars, and Sarah Lehman lofted 15 assists on 41-of-41 setting. Claussen had 3 aces, as well.
