Village Voices welcomes new singers

Village Voices, a community chorus based in Downers Grove, will begin its 2011-2012 season with rehearsals at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 5211 Carpenter St. in Downers Grove on Mondays, Sept 12 and 19.

The current membership of over 30 voices features singers from 12 Chicago suburbs. Currently, there are openings for baritones and basses. Please contact Marilyn Wilgocki at (630) 971-1594 or mew6617@sbcglobal.net for audition information.

This enthusiastic, well-trained chorus concertizes throughout the western suburbs, singing music from stage and screen, the folk genre, patriotic tunes, gospels and spirituals, vocal jazz and some light rock.

They are looking forward to performing for the Downers Grove Music Club on Oct. 4, 2011 and at Cordia Senior Residence in Westmont on Nov. 13.

The chorus will appear with the Sinfonietta Bel Canto on March 11, 2012 and present their annual Spring Concert on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Downers Grove.

A nonprofit organization, Village Voices is directed by Marilyn E. Wilgocki and accompanied by Sarah Flanagan, both of Downers Grove.
