Woodstock puts out welcome mat for 26th annual Folk Festival

The 26th annual Woodstock Folk Festival will be held from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 17, on the Woodstock Square.

Admission to the all-day festival is a suggested donation of $15 for adults, $25 for a family and $10 for students and seniors.

With a diverse musical lineup and a variety of activities for people of all ages, this long-running festival offers something for everyone.

Award-winning radio host Rich Warren joins longtime festival emcee Chuck VanderVennet in co-hosting the festival for the third year in a row.

While most of the festival takes place outdoors in the Woodstock Square, the open mic stage will be at the air-conditioned Stage Left Cafe, next to the Woodstock Opera House.

In case of rain, the festival will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, two blocks south of the square, at the corner of Dean and South streets.

Main Stage performers include: Pat Wictor at 12:30 p.m.; Old Sledge at 1:15 p.m.; Doug and Telisha Williams at 2 p.m.; Tangleweed at 2:45 p.m.; Albert and Gage at 3:30 p.m.; and Claudia Schmidt at 4:45 p.m.

At 4:15 p.m., the Woodstock Folk Festival board will present the 10th annual Woodstock Folk Festival Lifetime Achievement Award to Joann and Lee Murdock, in recognition of their many contributions to folk music and the folk community.

The children’s area will offer arts and crafts activities, music, singalongs and more.

This year will feature kids’ music concerts with Amy Beth and Gary Plazyk at 1:15 p.m. and Lia McCoo at 3:30 p.m.

Macyn Taylor joins the festival lineup as Featured Performer at the Stage Left Cafe Open Mike Stage at 1:45 p.m.

Performing since she was 7, Macyn is an accomplished guitar player and singer. Now 16 years old now, she’s a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, majoring in finger-style guitar performance. She plays a variety of music styles and is the 2009 East Troy Bluegrass Festival guitar-playing champion. Taylor was recently named “Most Promising New Talent” by Acoustic Guitar Magazine.
