Explore downtown Dundee on pub crawl

Dundee Township's Young and Restless group plans to make the historic streets of West Dundee its first outing on Saturday, July 9, when members will stroll through the downtown area and stop into a handful of businesses.

While they are looking at century-old buildings, members will be embarking on their inaugural Dundee Crawl.

“This is a great opportunity for members to enjoy the historic buildings we have in our town,” said Kirstin Finneran, marketing and public relations director of the Dundee Township Public Library. “Library staff members will accompany the group to explain the buildings' history.”

Stops will be made at Emmett's Tavern at 128 W. Main St., Dylan's Pub at 101 W. Main St. and River Lee's, 6 E. Main St., East Dundee.

The buildings that hold the businesses were selected because they each are rich in history, and their stories are interesting, said Heather Zabski, a coordinator of the group and a reference librarian.

The crawl is free, but attendees must pay for their own food and drink.

Young and Restless is a group of Dundee Township residents in their 20s and 30s, married and single, who enjoy socializing with their neighbors.

“We're hoping for 25 people to attend the crawl,” said Finneran. “Anyone with an interest in Dundee Township history is invited to be part of the crawl.”

The group will meet at 2 p.m. at the Dundee Township Visitors' Center, along North River Street in East Dundee.
