'Steel Magnolias' opens:Huntley High School will present "Steel Magnolias" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, to Saturday, Oct. 2, in the Performing Arts Center, 13719 Harmony Road in Huntley. This one-hour show will be auditioned for the Illinois High School Theatre Festival. Admission is $5 or $3 for students with an ID. Tickets are available at the door. Main St., West Dundee. Get your "passport" validated at participating bars in West Dundee by making a $5 purchase. The last stop on the crawl will be Diamond Jim's Gas Grill where participants should turn in their passports for a chance to with cash prizes as high as $500. A door prize raffle will also be available for those who do not want to do the crawl starting at 6:30 at Diamond Jim's. Tickets for the pub-crawl are $15 and can be purchased from club members and sponsoring bars.Fox River Grove packets ready:Nominating petitions packets for Fox River Grove village trustee are now available for pick up at the municipal center. There are three, 4-year seats and one, 2-year seat up for grabs. Petitions must be filed between Dec. 13 and Dec. 20. Filing closes at 5 p.m. Dec. 20. The municipal center is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.School hosts fitness day:The Cambridge Lakes Charter School in Pingree Grove is hosting Family Health and Fitness Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2. The event starts with a 5K run at 9 a.m. and a kids' one-mile challenge at 10 a.m. A health fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. will feature flu and pneumonia shots, a blood donation center, a mobile dentist, karate mini classes and massages.
