Dist. 94 appoints new board member

A chief financial officer with two children in high school has been named to the Community High School District 94 board of education.

Kevin Kotche, of West Chicago, is a longtime volunteer who has served on the board of the Community High School Education Foundation.

He replaces John P. Jenson, who resigned in August, leaving a vacancy on the board until the April 5 school board elections.

Kotche, chief financial officer for TouchPrint Print Solutions in Oakbrook Terrace, said he plans to run for the seat in April.

Kotche was one of two District 94 residents who applied to fill the vacancy. He is well-known for his involvement and support of education, Superintendent Lalo Ponce said.

"He rolls his sleeves up and gets the work done," said Ponce. "Not only does he plan the work, he's generally the person doing the work."

Kotche, whose oldest child is a Community High School graduate, praised the school's "great teacher base" and the variety of classes offered.

"I love the cultural diversity of it," he said.

The seats held by board President Katherine Doremus and board member Ruben Campos also are up for election in April.
