Dundee farmer's market:

The Old Dundee Farmer's Market is open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at The Depot, 319 N. River St., East Dundee. It features more than 40 vendors each week selling locally grown produce, bedding plants and flowers, plus antiques, jewelry and collectibles. Open fire station:

In recognition of Emergency Medical Services Week, the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District will open its headquarters to the public from noon to 3 p.m. today. The station is on West Algonquin and Pyott roads in Lake in the Hills. Activities include a child identification program and a visit from the Flight for Life helicopter. Wash car, help food pantry:

Super Wash in Bartlett is hosting a fundraiser through May 31 benefiting the Hanover Township Food Pantry. The car wash, located at 335 S. Prospect Ave., will donate a portion of its Super Wash and four-wash token packages. For details, call (630) 540-9085 or go to

Canoe race registration:

The 49th annual Mid-American Canoe and Kayak Race is accepting registrations for the June 6 event on the Fox River. A 10-mile race will begin at 9 a.m. from Mount St. Park Park in downtown St. Charles and a 6-mile race at 10:30 a.m. from the VFW in Batavia, just south of the downtown. Both races end at McCullough Park in Aurora. A tailgate-style party will be held in the park after the race. For details and registration, contact or (630) 966-4527.
