Water Street Studios in Batavia will feature the work of established artists Steve Sherrell and Richard DeVeau together in an exhibition titled "Phase II," opening April 8 and continuing until May 7. The opening reception will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 8.

Mutual Ground hosts Survivors' Art Show at the Santori Public Library as part of First Fridays in downtown Aurora on April 1. The show also kicks off Sexual Assault Awareness Month. In addition to art, the event features musical performances, poetry readings, and a short theatrical piece. Art pieces are by Mutual Ground's clients as part of their healing journey and by community members interested in supporting the nonprofit organization and raising awareness of sexual assault and abuse issues.

Security is always a major concern when a large group of people come together for an event. Rural first responders and public officials need to understand the importance and necessity for planning and managing security for scheduled events. The Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium is providing first responders and others in Algonquin and surrounding cities with the planning and management skills they need to develop strategies and implement security measures for planned events in a free Department of Homeland Security certified course.
Campton United donates over 400 items to Lazarus House

Over a 2-week period, Campton United collected more than 400 items including household items, cleaning products and trash bags. On Saturday, March 19, a group of Campton United high school boys and girls dropped off the items at Lazarus House in St. Charles.
