Elected officials in 31 suburban townships combined to make $661,387 more this year than they did in 2009. In many cases, they gave themselves the raises -- and they're getting ready to do it again.

Lombard fire chief retiring for post in Yorkville

Torrence is leaving his Lombard post after a year and three months to take a job with a private company that will send him to serve as fire marshal for the Bristol Kendall Fire Department in Yorkville, a place where farm fields are far more common than they are in the more built-up Lilac Village. -
