Dr. Sara Imtiaz installed as the 2024 new dentist board director of the Chicago Dental Society

Sara Imtiaz, D.M.D., of Chicago, Illinois was installed as the 2024 new dentist board director of the Chicago Dental Society on Nov. 12. Dr. Imtiaz has been actively involved throughout her professional career, including holding several leadership positions across professional organizations, such as president of the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry DMD Class of 2022 and deputy commissioner at the American Dental Education Association.

As the new dentist board director, Dr. Imtiaz will serve one year as a representative and liaison between early career dentists and the CDS Board of Directors and will be a critical voice to provide the perspective of and advocate for new dentists when decisions about the organization, member benefits and events are being considered. Dr. Imtiaz will also assist with the planning and promotion of the 159th Midwinter Meeting, which will be held at McCormick Place West in Chicago, Feb. 22-24, 2024.

The Midwinter Meeting is CDS' annual scientific meeting and one of the dental industry's premier events. The 2024 event will provide attendees with access to more than 230 world-class courses taught by today's leaders in the dental profession, hundreds of live exhibits to test the latest dental innovations, and countless networking opportunities with colleagues and friends.

Dr. Imtiaz holds a bachelor's degree in dental surgery from the FMH College of Medicine and Dentistry in Pakistan and earned her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry (UIC). In addition to her leadership roles, Dr. Imtiaz is an active member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, Illinois Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Dental Education Association. In 2022, she was the recipient of the Dr. Joseph Kolodziejck Award and the UIC Golden Scaler Award. Additionally, she served as a teaching assistant and tutor at the UIC College of Dentistry and as an extern for the Miles Square Health Center, where she provided dental care to low-income Chicagoans.

Dr. Imtiaz lives in Chicago, Illinois and is an associate dentist at Rooted Dental Care. She speaks three languages, Urdu, French, and English, and is an avid runner and video game player.

Established in 1864, CDS is the largest local component of the American Dental Association, with more than 4,000 members in Cook, Lake and DuPage counties.
