The Agape Ringers to share 'Sounds of the Season' Dec. 9

The Agape Ringers, one of Chicago's premier handbell ensemble, and guitarist Jeff Kust will present "Sounds of the Season" at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church, 149 W. Brush Hill Road.

The program encompasses a wide variety of holiday music both familiar and exotic, including arrangements of "I Wonder As I Wander," "Brazilian Sleigh Bells," and "Winter Wonderland," as well as original compositions and other favorites arranged for bells. The concert will be directed by KC Congdon

Jeff Kust will feature the cuatro, a small, five-stringed musical instrument popular in Puerto Rican folk music.

Tickets are $36 and available via Doors open half an hour before the performance.

The concert also will be livestreamed.

The season will continue with concerts at 4 p.m. on Feb. 25 at First Congregational Church of Western Springs, 1106 Chestnut St.; and on March 3 at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 41W170 Russell Road in Elgin.

For over 30 years, The Agape Ringers have shared their music with audiences throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, and England. Founded by David L. Weck in 1992 and under the baton of KC Congdon since 2019, 15 musicians come together to play this unique instrument comprised of over 150 bells and chimes. Members are selected through an open audition process every three years.
